Job Advice - Serious Answers Please -?

Postby kemperk428 » Thu Nov 26, 2009 4:51 am

Alreeet peeps.

i work for a firm as a manager on a good salary. The product, people, location etc are good.

the team i work within are horrible and treat our staff like dirt everyone walks on egg shells. If something goes wrong staff are treat badly and it becomes a witch hunt. This is a family business so there's a tendancy to treat us differently to how their family members are treat. Im the sales manager and im a compete success. but EVERYONE that has ever been in this role has walked within 4 months - i have stuck at it for over a year. I am getting to the point now where I am having to go for walks just so i dont knock some of these fishy pricks outs

There attitude is rubbing off on me - is the role with it?

a.Stick it out gome home feeling shit thinking maybe tom will be better

b.look for a new job and cut my losses as work shouldnt be like this

c. Discuss this with the Md who is the head of this family

d.none of the above?

any advice greatly welcomed as i puzzled....

c then b, mention your loyalty, but don't speak badly of any family members, or anyone of higher status i.e. your boss

Yeah c then b. If your md doesnt do anything to help the situation then look for another job. Work is a huge part of your life and going home feeling like shit is so not worth it. Good luck!

hiya
i was in a simular situation a while ago this is what i did. talk to your md, if no luck and it sounds like they are pr***s , and will not change .start looking for something else, i got work for less pay but the relieve i got when i left was great. over night i was 100% happier with myself and with every1 else, ask friends if they noticed a change in you since you worked there. not many people stay in 1 place forever, give another company your expertese. good luck, if you knock out some1 you will be looking for work anyway

I would try "c" first but try not to mention any one particular family member - if you be professional about it they should not have any problem with you bringing the matter up.

If you have no success then the only other option to choose would be "b". No job is worth that sort of aggro and if you go home feeling like that you tend to take it out on those closest to you and then make their life miserable.

Job satisfaction should come before the pay :-))

B - I wouldn't stick any longer, give the 4 weeks notice you are LEGALLY required in today and you will be able to walk out in mid-February.

If it is a family firm , and you are as good as you are saying you are in your profession, I suggest that you look for another job, and as soon as you find one , give your notice and leave.

You deserve a job that you are passionate about, one that each day you wake up you look forward to going to work and are excited about what the day brings. Of course, you know not all days will be perfect, but still you deserve to feel that going to work is fun, challenging, and that you are respected.

I don't think the question is about whether to leave your job or not. It's about the likelihood that you can create the environment you like in the job you are in. Regardless of whatever job you go to, the challenge will be the same, can you make it into the environment of your dreams?

Of course, some environments this may be easier to do then others. Good luck in whatever you decide.
