I don't want to become VAT registered so I can sell my products cheaper, I don't have to become VAT registered anyway as I'm not earning anywhere near £68,000 a year but to sign upto any computer website and buy trade goods they want a VAT number which screws me over, anyone offer any constructive adivie at all, thank you in advance!

The limit refers to turnover, not earnings. However, you could either try to speak to the company to get around their requirements, or alternatively set up a dummy company that is VAT registered. This company can then trade with your company.
