Business Studies student looking for a job advice? I'm so confused.?

Postby kirby0407 » Fri Jan 15, 2010 6:28 am

I have recently done Bachelors in Business Studies (hons) and I am so confused, I don't know where to start from. As a student I have just been average so I'm always scared I won't make it in job interviews. I want serious advices, let me know what organizations and what sector should I apply in and what questions normally do they ask in interview. And do you think I should work as an internee, if yes then where and how should I apply? Any help or advice will be seriously appreciated, thanks alot in advance.

About the interview: Just be yourself. Meaning be mature. How do you feel when you speak to your director, dean or instructor ?
Do you Stutter ? If no , then you'll absolutely have no problems in interviews.

Orgainisation: It all depends on the market these days. You're BA, then you'll probably end up with executive assistant, administrator, marketing, coordinator. Kapeesh ?

Questions: Depends on the place you're being recurited.
You need to do your part/home work. What I mean is , suppose you're looking to work with IBM. Research company.
Products, latest news, moto....

question can be " do you think you can be of value to our firm "" what do you know about (eg. Marketing) "" what was your previous job responsibilities ".

Your bachelors degree in Business is a plus, hopefully you took statistics and accounting. I will be very honest here.....if you didn't attend a top 30 college or university it will be tough in the interview process. That said that won't stop you from being aggressive and reaching out to alot of companies.

If I was you I would look for a good headhunter who specializes in finding jobs for aggressive and intelligent go-getters who don't have the mega credentials that many larger corps look for. Take Gordon Geckos advice, " Most of these Harvard MBA types don't add up to dogshit, give me someone who is poor smart and hungry, and no feelings!"

Good luck, I wish you much luck.
